Studying for Finals

Final Exams are coming up!  Next week actually – are you ready?

We will be spending time in class preparing for Finals by reviewing and practicing the skills that you have learned this year.  Please bring the following items with you to class everyday for our review:

  • Chapter Vocabulary lists
  • Chapter Verb Charts
  • Notebooks/Notes from the semester
  • Three Column Verb Chart (Review of verbs from Spanish 1)
  • Elvis Foldables and Notes
  • Mandatos (Commands) Notes:  Negative/Positive, Formal/Informal
  • Textbook
  • Paper and writing utensils.  (Yes, I'm listing this because it appears that this seems to be "optional" for some of you.  It's not. :D )

We will spend time discussing the IMPORTANT pieces that brought each unit together and have been continually emphasized this semester.  We will also discuss error correction, Elvis, Commands, etc.  Please be prepared to be focused, work hard and review, review, review!

El 21 de enero

Finally!  Access to TMF again after a period without.  SORRY for the lack of posting – I have be unable to access TMF/internet from home.

1.  Today in class students corrected A to Z sentences, wrote questions for the A to Z sentences and practiced additional sentence writing with this page.

2.  Tomorrow (Friday 1/22), there is a SHORT (5 sentence) quiz that will require use to use various Chapter vocabulary AND some Elvis pronouns.

3.  TUESDAY (1/26) is the Chapter TEST day!  Be there or Be Square!

4.  Final Exams are February 3, 4, and 5.  No final exam will be given earlier than schedule finals.  All students are required to take the final exam.  Semester finals are CUMULATIVE (meaning ALL semester material will be covered/tested on the exam).  The assigned exam periods are as follows:

  • Wednesday, 2/3: Periods 2 and 3
  • Thursday, 2/4:  Periods 4 and 5
  • Friday, 2/5:  Periods 6 and 1

5.  We will be reviewing material (vocabulary, verbs, etc) for the 5 class days between the chapter test and the beginning of final exams.  Students are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to ORGANIZE their NOTES, bring their Elvis Foldables AND Chapter Vocabulary & Verb charts to class for all of the review days.

¡Feliz Día de los Reyes!

Tomorrow is your first CHAT CARD In-Class Participation Point activity! You *REALLY* need to know your vocabulary and be ready to take osme chances with sentence structures, etc.  The activity is worth 40 points!  Speaking English will reduce your points significantly during the 60-second Spanish conversations. See below.  (So don't do it!  Come prepared to class!)
  • First time:   Minus 5 points
  • Second time:  Minus 20 points
  • Third time:  Minus ALL points possible.

I am also attaching a MP3 file (audio recording) of this chapter's vocabulary.  You can download it to practice your pronunciation.  I hope it helps.

Here is another copy (although this one is blank – just colored squares!) of the Chapter Verb Chart.

Only one more week (Jan 14th!) until your next QUIZ!

Get on it, bonnet!
:D
